Dark Timber and Stone Kitchen

Dark Timber and Stone Kitchen

A large modern kitchen incorporating traditional and classic finishes of dark timber or wood and stone with contrasting modern appliances so that they appear as features.

The wrought iron candelabra and pot rack / utensil hanger in the center complements the natural dark timber finish and the polished granite to the central island bench top is a great way to store those large items.

The appliances are finished in a stainless steel finish which with its natural reflective effect contrasts as well as adds depth to the interior incorporating the colors and reflections in their finish. Lighting is simplistic with the feature light incorporated into the candelabra.

The remainder is ambient light in down lights to the ceiling and the benches having task lighting incorporated under the cupboards.

Dark timber cabinets with stone and ceramic finishes

The breakfast bar or occasional eating bar is multifunctional in that it can be used for dining at, in the preparation of food or if necessary recessed back into the main island for more room if the kitchen is busy with too many chefs.

Note the contrasting pale tiling to the splash back and embossed finishes on the tiling compared to the dark timber paneling and wood cabinetry.

Drawers are used to the majority of the benches for easy to reach items such as pots below the cooking hob.

The finishes used in this kitchen are all very permanent, it is not easy to change the colors unless you add accessories. This is something to think about if you like change in your kitchen. In saying that, using a paint finish on the wall so that you can change the color of the kitchen is not as durable or easy to clean as ceramic tiles. Accessories are the best way to add color to a kitchen like this. Colored ceramic fruit bowl, colored glass vases, change the upholstery fabric on the stools.
