Sheers and Nets are Functional as well as Aesthetic Curtains

Sheers and nets are a versatile and functional curtain. Used worldwide to provide privacy at windows they can work in any home, from old to new.

The fabrics available today can be as simple as a white sheer voile to complex with delicately woven patterns and textures.

As you will see in the photographs to follow, sheers and nets are equally suited to a country cottage bedroom as an contemporary romantic bedroom.

Simple net curtains

Delightfully simple, these net curtains have a lace patterned fabric that provides the detail at the window and they are held back with an basic fabric tie.

Functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.

Soft sheer double curtains.

Double curtains, both made from sheers soften the look of this casual living room.

They create a wistful air of relaxation as the style of curtain is not the feature of the room, they have a simple heading that is not even noticeable and you focus your attention to the picture frame on the wall.

Formal net kitchen curtains

From early childhood I can remember having net curtains in the kitchen, you don’t see them as much now days as blinds have become made a major competitor for kitchen window treatments. But net curtains will always have their place, especially in traditional kitchens. These kitchen net curtains have a French pleated heading which creates a lovely formal hanging net curtain.

four poster bed curtains

Fabulous use of sheer fabric to the four poster bed and the window behind. Soft flowing and romantic, this bedroom looks very welcoming to someone who wants to feel indulged and relax in serenity.

Imagine how it would look if we removed the bed curtains. Yes, it would be quite a different mood.

The height and proportions of the bed curtain creates drama and movement to the space.

log cabin, cute and country lace curtains.

Cute and country, functional lace net curtains in this log cabin.

Doesn’t the detail to the fabric design create a strong contrast to the roughness of the wooden building. I love it!

roller shades and net curtains

Net curtains used in conjunction with roller shades. The roller shades do all he work and the net curtains are there to look good, and they do.

They add well needed texture to the room, the timber or wood and painted walls make the room appear flat, but the addition of the lace curtains means that the room has texture and it softens the space.

It also creates a wonderful play with the natural light as it enters the room, it diffuses it and this also helps to soften the feeling of the room.

Interesting use of sheer curtains in the bathroom

This bathroom has a fabulous bath as a feature, but to me the room is dominated with the height and grandeur of the sheer curtain at the full height window. The fabric color is slightly darker than the walls and to me becomes the focal point to the room. Especially because of the choice of hanging rod that has been selected. The bathroom is all white and chrome and the curtain rod is wrought iron! It definitely stands out.
